Production Support

Appalachian Naturals, located in Goshen, Ma has openings for Spring & Summer Production Support Crew. We bottle natural & organic dressings, salsa, tomato puree, barbecue sauces and food service size products which are distributed to markets & restaurants throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. This position is a good opportunity for high school or college students looking for work experience in the food manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Hand applying safety shrink bands to bottles as they move down a conveyor line
  • Box up product that has finished going through bottling line
  • Assist during production (handle agitator for kettles, check temperature, etc.)
  • Run unlabeled bottles through automated label machine
  • Hand apply labels to containers that can't be labeled via automation
  • Routine machine maintenance (clean ink coder print head, grease filler bearings, etc)
  • Disassemble stainless steel piping and hoses post-production
  • Move pallets throughout kitchen and warehouse pre-and post-production
  • Clean & sanitize production hardware & supplies (machine based)
  • Clean & sanitize all surfaces and floors while documenting a food safety sanitation list
  • Document safety steps (attention to detail and legible handwriting is preferred)
  • Wrap & strap pallets for outbound freight
  • Pack online orders (Amazon, web store, etc.)
  • Organize and stack product (18 lb-20 lb boxes) onto pallets in warehouse
  • Operate a forklift
  • Operate a pallet stacker
  • Manage trash & recycling (break down boxes, rinse containers, package for recycle center)
  • Sweep & mop warehouse where inventory is stored
  • Assist Production Manager and Production Crew members with tasks throughout production

Production Support Crew is a great position for those interested in entry level work in the agricultural based food manufacturing & distribution industry. Position runs late April-October with the possibility of staying on past October. For students this schedule may be adjusted to meet your schedule by starting as an after-school/classes work opportunity then into part time during the summer. There is the possibility for more hours in the summer especially in August and September during the tomato harvest when we bottle over 30,000 lbs of local tomatoes.

Hours: 10am-6pm (possibility for more)

Days: Thurs & Fridays (possibility for more)

Season: April-Oct (possibility for longer)

Salary: $12/hr

Required Experience:

ServSafe preferred (not required)

Food production or farming experience preferred (not required)

Forklift operator license preferred (not required)
